Vanilla smells delicious; until Dior decides to incorporate it into its fragrance that is! Let’s see if Dior succeeded this time!
There is no dearth of Vanilla scented perfumes out there, but sadly, not all of them hit the mark. We salute Dior’s brave attempt to navigate these murky waters, but we certainly don’t agree with the end product – the Vanilla Diorama fragrance. The perfume is not anything to write home about, but then again, you might wish to own it anyway. In that case, all we’ll say is, think before you spray! Let’s look at a detailed analysis of the fragrance so you can make an informed decision
Sometimes fragrances just don’t work out; this is one of those times. Think before you spray, that’s all we’ll say!
The fragrance derives its name from one of Christian Dior’s favourite desserts – the Diorama Gourmand; a pastry created especially for him by the renowned Parisian restaurant, Maxim’s. The fragrance thus aims to pay homage to the dessert. It is a unisex fragrance and the nose behind it is Francois Demachy. The top notes consist of Orange, Pink Pepper, and Lemon. The middle notes comprise of Rum, Cacao, and Cardamom. Bourbon Vanilla, Sandalwood and Patchouli form the base notes.
The opening seemed pretty inviting. The initial spray brings a brief and pungent spice note but the dry down is very light and not very long-lasting either. The scent stays for maximum three hours, so that definitely leaves something to be desired. And although the scent is appealing at first, one gets tired of it easily, as it is a little syrupy and sickening sweet with a note of synthetic wood from mid to end. The scent is great for women, but for men, you would need to layer it with another scent to be able to pull it off as a masculine scent. The fragrance also shows up differently on everyone’s wrists, some experienced it turning into that of fermented black tea. The sandal wood is also a dry wood smell, not creamy or milky.
Vanilla Diorama by Christian Dior
The bottle is not very fancy or unique, but then we suppose, sometimes simplicity is the best. Overall, the fragrance is pretty good and is well made. It might not stand out, but it does make you smell pretty good and you could use it a lot during the summer and spring months. It does have a sophisticated air to it, so if you still wish to experience this, you can go ahead with the purchase.
