When the doors to The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened on 13th September, the crowd gathered around, hoping to get a glance of how fashion is being portrayed this year and celebrities did not disappoint. Dressed in different colours, some sprinkled the magic of glitter and sapphires while some gave us flowery vibes. Some, however, spoke about important things and they spoke loud.

Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio Cortez gave the event a political turn. Although, she looked normal yet stunning from the front while wearing a suffragette white dress with a white tuxedo-like detailing, the show turned when she turned around. When it comes to Dior, fashion is taken seriously. The crowd turned their eyes on the stunning look of Cara Delevingne when they read the message on her dress. Cara Delevinge has been quite vocal about what is important in American society and what changes need to be done to achieve the set goals. She displays her ideas through fashion with Diors hand of help. Rumour has it, Cara was almost in tears when she first saw her dress.

Carolyn represents New Yorks 12th Congressional District. Her outfit, adorned with the colours yellow, white, purple and green, was inspired by the suffrage movement.

4. Meaning of Love
Dan Levy, looking quite dashing in his Met Gala look, had a deeper meaning in mind. As strong and bold as his look was, he surely understood the assignment. Wearing fashion by J.W. Anderson, Dan Levy shut the mouths of homophobes and their misdirected ideals. Dan celebrated the message of queer love and visibility.
The look was inspired by the estate of American multimedia artist and LGBTQIA+ activist, David Wajnarvoicz. Focusing on what David had to endure in his life due to the repressed image of the queer community and displaying a hopeful message, the get-up made its mark on the red carpet with a design of two men kissing on the front.

With her head held high, Quannah Chasinghorse was dressed from head to toe for the indigenous community. Naomi Osakas take on the theme of In America was something everyone looked up to. Her message of celebrating different cultures in a single society was loud and clear. This tennis player described her culture through the amalgamation of fashion and heritage. Her dress was designed by her sister Mari Osaka and Louis Vuittons Nicolas Ghesquiere. Her colourful gown was inspired by her Japanese and Haitian ancestors.
She displayed how two cultures can stay together in a foreign country and still be proud of their heritage. For her, America means a mixture of every root and staying in harmony under one roof. She pulls off this message quite stunningly with her red bow, blue and purple swirl print bustier and skirt, and a black ruffled cape.
