India Is A Very Diverse Nation. Here, Culture Changes Faster Than A Chameleon’s Colour. We Have Found One Place Which Will Tingle Your Peaceful Senses This Time!
If we take our ancestral voyage back in the books of history – humans have been travelling for a very long time. Not much has changed since the medieval era – the main purpose of travelling back then was to search for better food, better weather, and better terrain. Travelling for the Gen-Z is also in search of better food, weather, and terrain – but the core of travelling has changed. Before we used to travel for survival – now we travel for relaxation. This contrasting comparison might feel very enlightening, but as a matter of fact, it is true. This month we travel for health and to be fit. Fitness is a very elaborate subject which includes physical as well as the mental well-being of a human. Nothing speaks better about well-being than peaceful meditation. Want to know where? With every changing second, our weather changes too. It is upon us how good of use we make for it. In a country such as India, the Monsoon weather comes as a blessing in disguise. Monsoon not only is good for agriculture but it also paves the way for peaceful rains and a lot of water.
Travelling for the Gen-Z is also in search of better food, weather, and terrain – but the core of travelling has changed. Before we used to travel for survival – now we travel for relaxation.
One such retreat lies in the southern part of India, in the Kerala region. The place is known as Alappuzha or Alleppey and it is full of beautiful sights that will stick to your mind as if they are real.
This place is close to the more popular latter – Cochi. Especially when it rains here, the green bed of plants and grass takes over the region like it was made to fit there. George Curzon, the popular viceroy of India even named this place “Venice of the east” in the 20th century.
Living on The Boat
The title given by Viceroy George would be more sensible to you now because Alleppey is full of houseboats which you can take advantage of in this tropical paradise. Ranging according to your group size, different boats are available for staying and for exploring the waters of Alleppey.
Offering not only some of the best beaches of South India, but Alleppey also offers some of the best houseboats in India. Living in a houseboat made with brass and wood – sailing slowly and steadily through small streams of water and experiencing a light rainfall simultaneously would be the scenario that you will be blessed with.
We will recommend this place quite prominently if you are looking for a romantic abode or a peaceful family vacation.

Beaches But Serene
You must have heard about Indian beaches being full of crowds and messy. But another element that makes Alleppey interesting are the beaches that cover this beautiful destination. Places like Goa and Mumbai might have become too mainstream now – here is where the beaches of Kerala fill in the gap and that too very profoundly.
Located in the Alappuzha District of Kerala, is one of the cleanest and safest beaches of Kerala – Marari Beach. If you are the one who loves to play on beach sand then you are in luck because Marari has got the finest and whitest beach sand to roll your body in. The water here is also very clean and tidy.
Another beach in Alappuzha District is Alappuzha Beach. It is more popular of the latter and is also a host to many beach festivals. Enjoying sunsets from this beach is like a dream come true as it looks so pure. It is equipped with a 150+ years old wooden pier which gives this beach a cherry on the top.
Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race
We have chosen the month of August specifically for Alleppey not only because of how beautiful it is during the season of the monsoon but also because of this event. Nehru Trophy Snake boat race is a local event that takes place every year on the second Saturday of August.
During the sacred festival of Onam, people gather from all around the nearby villages and participate in this event. 100-130 feet long boats are made specifically for August. It is a sight rarely seen anywhere and is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This event usually takes place in the lake of Alleppey and hundreds of people wait just for this day. This event was named after Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru who came to witness this event and become so excited that he won by participating himself too. Due to the long participating boat, it is known as the Snake Boat Race.
