The spot

With muted lighting and soft music playing in the background, an intimate meal awaits your arrival. Set in the city of dreams, Mumbai, Out of the Blue the brainchild of its Director and Conceptualizer Rahul Bajaj, makes for a posh eatery that boasts of Mediterranean style interiors, a sumptuous menu and a tranquil vibe.

“We initially started out in 1999 and were one of the few places serving Italian, sizzlers and fondue. The primary thought behind opening this space, was to present something novel to the people other than Indian cuisine,” said Rahul.

The spirit

When it comes down to cocktails the classic choices are always a staple, but what caught our eye were the vibrant hues of green rosemary and red pomegranate seeds shining through a frosted glass. Coming out as vivid as its looks, Pop - Lickel sure did not let us down. This highly complex drink incorporates a global assortment of spirits with bright tropical fruits. The popsical (chardonnay) brings in extraordinary well matured and fruity notes. With the subtle hint of martini bianco, mixed in with Bacardi white, the spirit is joined by tonic water to complete its robust journey, shaken not stirred.

Amuse-bouche

It is essential to complement more complex mixtures of the perfect drink with the right flavours when it comes to dining the right way. Rahul suggests the, Antipasti Platter with pesto marinated eggplant, zucchini, peppers, artichokes, fresh baby bocconcini, feta cheese, Kale hummus, olives, duck prosciutto and chicken pate. He further goes on to recommend, the John Dory Picatta, a flavourful John Dory served in a caper & chili sauce along with a garlic aioli & finished with parmesan crisps
