The New Paradox of Power
From the deep-sea drama of Vivetta's sirens to Fendi's utility-meets-couture and Missoni's sun-drenched knits, Milan decreed a new, liberating femininity: beautifully contradictory and fiercely modern.

Milan Fashion Week Spring 2026 was a powerful convergence, challenging the very definition of luxury. The collections moved past spectacle to embrace a profound, modern freedom. This season, contradiction was key: Vivetta dove into sensual aquatic fantasy, Fendi paired fragile silk slips with rugged work boots, and Missoni translated jet-set ease into textured knitwear, all united by a fiercely contemporary vision.

The Vivetta Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear unveiling at Milan Fashion Week introduced a spectacular, sensual phase for the label, successfully moving beyond its previous childlike whimsy. This show, the studio team's first solo creative effort, delved into the profound depths of the ocean. The new vision centred on sophisticated sirens, using abundant sheer textiles like gossamer in colours mimicking the sea: lagoon, oyster, and anemone. Silhouettes became deliberately revealing, featuring flowy trousers and brief, wispy chemises. Artistry shone through unique maritime accents. Gold hardware showcased sculpted mermaids, while footwear displayed tiny, striking sea urchins. Handbags transformed into fish shapes, completing a bold shift toward a compelling, aquatic elegance.

Kim Jones’s Fendi Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection, showcased at Milan Fashion Week, introduced a surprisingly free and fluid aesthetic to high luxury. Bridging the gap between ready-to-wear and couture, the presentation celebrated the brand’s near-centenary by looking to the Roaring Twenties’ modernism. The look was characterized by precious practicality: finely crafted silk slips and organza dresses were grounded by rugged Red Wing work boots, transforming utility into an ultra-luxe statement. Silhouettes were light, layered with sheer fabrics and deconstructed knits. Jones incorporated surreal touches like upside-down dresses and delicate embroideries, ultimately delivering a collection designed for women who do rather than simply look decorative.

The Missoni Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection, designed by Alberto Caliri, channelled the fantasy of an "Endless Summer" by updating the brand's iconic knitwear for a contemporary, cross-generational wardrobe. Caliri focused on a refined evolution, presenting luxurious knits in updated silhouettes like sophisticated trench coats, polo-turned-mini-dresses, and easy ankle-length gowns. While the classic chevron was present, the collection introduced depth with 3D cashmere Raschel and lurex stripes. The sun-drenched palette of earthy neutrals and muted tones underscored a relaxed, jet-set mood, accessorised with multiple slouchy bags, reinforcing a vibe of effortless, continuous leisure.
