Swara Bhaskar: Making Waves

Swara Bhaskar is just one film old, but the geeky Delhi girl is all set for silver screen glory—in a new avatar.

There is something refreshing about Swara Bhaskar, and that is her spontaneity. Having found her love for acting at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus, Swara wanted to give her dreams a shot and landed in Mumbai. And after winning brownie points for essaying the gutsy character of Bindiya in Raanjhanaa, how can there be any looking back?

Swara’s personal style—kohl-rimmed eyes, kurti, jeans and flats—didn’t jive well with her Bollywood dreams. In fact, she got her first mani-pedi after moving to Mumbai. Five years and a makeover later, she is all set to get an edge over her peers. “I do feel the pressure to look good but that is a part of my profession. I understand that the audience looks up to an actress. Though personally I am quite laidback, if I have the opportunity to be on the red carpet, I know I need to value it and be worth it, in every way.”

Like her personality, Swara’s dream roles are also quite unconventional—Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich and Rani Mukherjee in Black. She is looking forward to her role in Sooraj Barjatya’s multi-starrer film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo that stars Salman Khan as well. So are we!
