Oriental Delight

As a country obsessed with Asian cuisine, we take our love for rich aromatic palate a bit too seriously. Nothing excites us more than simple, yet authentic flavours. Extensive search took us to the newly launched The Kimono Club and we are here to unravel the eclectic gastronomical fiesta.

Designed with the idea to capture the old-fashioned Parisian hauteur with the racy glamour of modern day Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok, The Kimono Club oozes luxury, yet never loses its fun and ‘let-your-hair-down-and-party’ vibe. Shiny disco balls happily rotate amongst old world paintings and antique stained-glass mirrors and lamps with fringes, all morphing into an evocative fine dining experience with a modern Asian menu designed by the country’s most celebrated Chef, Vikramjit Roy.

Food philosophy

Oriental Delight

With a live dim sum station, the restaurant serves modern Japanese and Chinese delicacies that are complemented by the most extensive spirits and wine list for any bar and restaurant in the city. Apportioned as small plates, cold plates/ raw salad bar and mains. The lavish menu also includes caviar, oysters, lobster and duck that would typically be steamed, stir fried or baked to make the dishes a healthy indulgence. Sharing his views, Executive Chef, Vikramjit, says, “Our motto behind designing the menu for The Kimono Club is to give utmost importance to technicality and precision. The dishes are inspired from traditional Chinese cuisine and are rendered in a contemporary fashion. Beyond serving our guests with signature dishes, it is our passion to use freshly sourced ingredients and treat them with care to highlight the ingenuous flavors.”

The taste test

Oriental Delight

Signature dishes such as, Wagarashi Prawns, Almond Wasabi, Duck Carpaccio Yuzu Soy, Lobster and Truffle Dumpling, among others, caught us in the middle of both flavour riot and the dilemma to pick a favourite. What caught our fancy and taste buds, both, was Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun served with roasted shallots, chopped spring onion and drizzled with a signature sauce. The first bite into the soft prawn enveloped in delectable Cheung Fun wrap transported us to the kitschy alleys of Bangkok. The dish gets full marks on freshness and texture, an ideal accompaniment with a glass of sparkling wine.
