If you are a tea connoisseur who knows your Darjeeling from Assam variant, you will love what you are about to read. In 2014, Darjeeling’s Makaibari tea, which is one of the world’s most expensive teas, was sold to various teahouses in Japan, the UK, and the US for over a lakh per kilogram. Don’t be sad if you can’t get your hands on this tea. There’s another fine variety, the Manohari Gold tea from Assam that you can get your hands on. Procured from a special variety of tea clone, the leaves can only picked in hours between 4 am to 6 am. We say, sip it right.

What: India’s most expensive tea, Assam variant. Price: ₹39,001 per kilogram.
