Far From The Madding Crowd

Located amidst Mother Nature, away from North Goa’s bustling lifestyle, AccorHotels’ first Novotel Resorts and Spa in Goa, overlooks the paddy plantations and is equipped with 121 rooms and suites, offering it’s guests havens of space of luxury and comfort.

The perfect getaway spot for those who want to discover the sober side of Goa. As I walked in the hotel’s fabulously lit and marble floored lobby, I was greeted by the general manager, Mr. Rohan Sable and was offered a glass of homemade iced tea, which revitalised my mind after the long journey from New Delhi. I was then escorted to my suite. As the staff opened the door, there it was lying on the table right in front of me – a tray of freshly baked macaroons, fresh off the tree coconut and a lovely welcome card from the hotel staff (which by the way, I have pinned on my work spaces’ soft board). The slide door next to the living area led me to my cozy bedroom and an attached bathroom.

After having synced in the beauty of the room, I was offered a wholesome lunch meal by the hotels’ executive chef, Ganapathy Mallya, of Goan delicacies from the mouthwatering red prawn curry and steam rice, topped with fried fish fillets. Being a meat lover, prawns are, hands down, my favourite, so I obviously destroyed (pun intended) the meal! After the generously satisfying meal, I resigned to bed for an afternoon nap. The evening was spent by admiring the beautifully lit lanterns that ran across over the pool and I ended my day on a positive note after a delicious dinner buffet at the hotel’s restaurant, Food Exchange.

The next day, I was highly pampered by the restaurant staff during breakfast - from the pancakes topped with strawberries to the freshly squeezed orange juice. I then decided to soak up some sun and lounged by the pool whilst I waited for my afternoon spa appointment at the Warren Tricomi Spa, which was designed like a tropical Balinese style garden. With a 10-minute steam room experience to then a massage by one of the highly trained masseuse, it was a treatment like none other! I highly recommend the 90-minute signature style massage that will surely make you feel like a whole new you.

The lunch that was carried on after the spa was one to remember. I think the chef understood my love for prawns, and hence, he specially prepared an entrée of prawns cooked in 5 different styles! It was absolutely flavoursome and tasty! On my last night in Goa, I enjoyed my candlelight dinner date (for one) at the hotel’s seaside restaurant at the Candolim beach, Le Brise, which is a 3 minute car ride from the main hotel property. The sound of the waves and wind added an extra charm to the friendly service and great food!

To conclude this fabulous and much needed weekend getaway, I would recommend all the travellers to visit this scenic property with an infinity pool that overlooks the green lands. With a must have appointment at the spa that gives you an insight into the gardens of Bali and a compulsory visit to Le Brise for the breathtaking sunset, it was a trip worth remembering!
