Curtain Call for Carats

Curtain Call for Carats

There’s something about Broadway’s biggest night that makes accessories take center stage. The Tony Awards celebrate the best performances in theatre, but the red carpet tells its own story. It showcases diamonds, pearls, clutches, and standout pieces that demand attention.

This year, the 78th Tony Awards in 2025 highlighted how accessories can change a look from beautiful to unforgettable. There were chandelier earrings that swayed with every step, necklaces that caught the light as if they belonged on stage, sculpted clutches, and opera gloves that added a touch of drama. The night reminded us that the right accessory doesn’t just enhance an outfit; it completes it.

The 78th Tony Awards 2025 not only celebrated the year's most captivating performances but also showcased some stunning luxury jewelry moments. Broadway's brightest stars demonstrated that the right accessory can draw as much attention as a standing ovation, making this year's red carpet a sparkling display.

Jewelry was often selected to echo details in the gowns, such as pink pearls with pastel hues, gold with cream fabrics, or diamonds to match crystal embellishments.

Cynthia Erivo hosted the night and turned the awards into a masterclass in styling. With ten outfit changes, she provided the audience with a memorable jewelry showcase. Her red-carpet entrance was remarkable in a powder pink Schiaparelli gown, adorned with pearls and crystals. She paired it with a silver and pink pearl necklace and eye-catching rings that shone under the lights. Later, she appeared in a striking red gown with white suit accents, complemented by a diamond choker and diamond cuff earrings. In a nod to Old Hollywood, she donned a strapless black gown with a pastel pink satin bustle, accessorized with black opera gloves, a diamond necklace, matching cuff earrings, and a sparkling bracelet. Each look highlighted that jewelry is not just an accessory; it is a statement.

Nicole Scherzinger added serious glamour to both the carpet and the stage. After winning Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, she showed that diamonds and scarlet create a match made in heaven. Her custom sequined Rodarte gown was bold and beautiful, but her emerald cut diamond studs, pear cut pendant, and glittering rings turned her look into pure red-carpet royalty.

Cole Escola made history as the first non-binary performer to win Best Actor in a Leading Role, and their fashion matched the milestone. In a silver-blue gown with a fitted bodice and dramatic train, Cole added a pendant necklace featuring a ribbon detail that was both chic and symbolic, illustrating how jewelry can carry a story as well as shine.

Sarah Paulson embraced elegance in a Schiaparelli couture gown that featured a black velvet halter top and a cream flared skirt. She completed the look with refined pieces from Buccellati, sleek heels, and a gold clutch that unified everything in a warm metallic glow.

Zoey Deutch chose a bold black crisscross halter neck gown by Elie Saab and opted for Tiffany & Co. diamonds to enhance its shine. Diamond dangle earrings, a bracelet, and a ring from the prestigious jewelry house showed that minimal designs can still pack a punch.

Pearls made a strong comeback thanks to Ariana DeBose, who paired a white slip dress with layered strands of pearls for a modern take on a classic look. The ensemble felt effortless yet refined, proving that pearls have evolved beyond their vintage association. Jennifer turned heads in a strapless nude mermaid gown with crystal beading that sparkled beautifully. She elevated her look further with a diamond necklace and bracelet that lit up the red carpet.

This year’s Tony Awards confirmed what fashion insiders have sensed for a while. Statement necklaces were the evening’s true stars, whether dripping in diamonds or layered with pearls. Heritage jewelry brands like Tiffany & Co. and Buccellati remain favourites for stars who want to combine timelessness with red carpet flair. Pearls are making a big comeback, and they are unafraid to stand out. The appreciation for geometric diamond cuts, especially emerald and pear shapes, is stronger than ever. Jewelry was often selected to echo details in the gowns, such as pink pearls with pastel hues, gold with cream fabrics, or diamonds to match crystal embellishments.

The Tony Awards 2025 showed that on Broadway’s biggest night, sparkle holds as much importance as performance. Some took home trophies, others earned the title of best dressed, but everyone left knowing that the right piece of jewelry can be just as unforgettable as a show-stopping act.
