G-Eazy is known for his extraordinary art of putting music to words. He is easily one of the top record-breaking rappers from America and his songs have been a massive support for many fans. He knows how to present himself, adorned with style and elegance, and how to set the stage on fire with every performance. On an interview with us, G-Eazy shares the insights of his inspiring journey. He talks about his memories from past years and his plans for the future. Read on!
What inspired you to choose a music career at a young age?
I’m not sure what exactly inspired me but I think it was being a fan of music in general. It is something that I’m grateful for every day, which is finding work that I love to do in life at such a young age. Everybody doesn’t find what they love to do in life, and I think that the ones that do are really fortunate.

How do you think your experiment with college mixtapes helped you? Would you like to share any fond memory of your college?
No matter what you want to do in life, most of the time it’s going to take a lot of practice and a lot of hard work, and a lot of time spent trying to improve your craft. There’s this humility that comes with being hungry for that long and putting that much work in.
I remember the first time I tried to perform, it was in college for a talent show and I got booed off the stage. Those kinds of things humble you. It’s important to try things and to fail, but to get back up and to keep going.
Your major-label debut album These Things Happen peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard 200, how did it change your career and life?
It changed my career in a massive way. It opened so many doors for me, and it put me on the map, so to speak. I’m very grateful for the success of the album – it helped me buy a house and it helped me take care of my family.

What interests you apart from music?
I love reading classical literature and biographies. My favorite book is Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. I also like watching basketball and hiking. Music is pretty time-consuming. and it’s a pretty obsessive relationship I have with it.
You have your own merchandise; how do you want to take it forward in the future?
I want to continue developing my merch into a lifestyle brand, and continue to make things, whether its jackets, shirts, pants. I’ve been developing my pomade, which is what I use to slick my hair back.

Since you have performed so many tours, kindly share a memorable experience from any of them that connects you with your fans.
I have so many memorable experiences. I miss touring a whole lot. I toured heavily with playing at least 200 shows a year in the past 7 or 8 years. The biggest part is missing the fans and missing the energy in the room, and being able to connect with them, and getting a feel for the energy of the people.
Though we have a list of your songs but do you mind sharing a specific song of yours that is still close to your heart and why?
I would say Everything Will Be Okay. That’s probably the most personal song that I have ever written. I had a good experience writing it and I spilled my heart out on it.

You are a rapper, songwriter, and record producer, is there anything else that you want to experiment with?
I would love to get into acting. I think it’s something that I could be good at and I love film. I love watching biopics and movies about interesting people, such as rockstars.
You worked for 3 years for a sequel These things happen too of your debut album, what was the idea behind it?
I wanted the album to feel full circle, to be a proper sequel to the first one. In a sense, it should feel like a round trip coming back home and reminding people who Gerald is. It’s getting back to my roots.

You did your photoshoot at E11EVEN MIAMI and you have a residency there. What was the photoshoot like as opposed to being at the nightclub partying or performing? Tell us about the experience.
It was weird being there in the daytime when it was completely empty. Nightclubs feel so different when they’re packed. I love performing at E11EVEN and I love the people there and it’s always a fun time. It’s nice to come back frequently to a place that’s a lot of fun to be around.
Being a rapper is a cool quotient for today’s generation, do you want to share a piece of advice for them?
Love what you do and do it for the right reasons. If you love what you do and do it for the right reasons, you’ll do it very frequently. You do anything frequently enough with enough repetition and consistency, you get better at it, and then you have a better chance of being recognized for it. Do it because you love it and do it every day, but don’t expect anything other than the reward of doing something that you love.
