FURGOD – Leaving a legacy of exclusivity

interview

Our Hommes cover model, FURGOD, is a designer, musician, producer & sound engineer. He is making a mark in the fashion industry with his design skills and creative vision that are in line with his innovative business goals. Here he talks to us in an inspiring conversation about his plans ahead.

What was your childhood like? Did you know since the beginning that you wanted to become a designer?

Growing up, I was a very active kid – I always needed to do something. At a young age, my parents knew that, and they put me in sports right away. The sports were challenging, but at the same time, Im a very highly competitive person. With all the sports I played, there was always a strategy for something. Growing up, that helped me because it gave me discipline. I was doing karate for 15 years, along with soccer, baseball, and golf. There was always something with a mental strategy, and it all prepared and moulded me for all the things that I love to do. It brought this creativity out of me. I have great ideas, from designing fur jackets to designing cans. Now I have a whole new company – I have the INTI name and design set. With all the other things I have coming out, I think growing up prepared me for all of that. I love a challenge and being competitive.

The beautiful thing is that FURGOD has always been me.

Did becoming FURGOD come easy to you? Or did you deal with your own set of challenges in your journey?

The beautiful thing is that FURGOD has always been me. This lifestyle has always been about having fun, enjoying life in the moment, being positive, gathering people around, and expressing everything I love. That’s what FURGOD really is. Yes, it started with designing, but I’m doing so much now. At the same time, I’m all about positivity, touching peoples lives, and motivating them. That’s always been me, and it’s funny because someone reached out to me and said, Nothing has changed with you. You have a new name, but it’s always been like that with you. You always had the attention when you went out. Everyone would gravitate towards you because you’re so positive and fun. That’s the way FURGOD is. I love being me.

With your own clothing line and music albums coming out, what more do you look forward to achieving?

With the clothing line and music, I’m leaving a legacy behind. Im leaving my name behind. We’re all temporary here, as we all know. All of what I’m doing is fun, and I enjoy it, but I’m leaving my footprints behind.

I’m all about positivity, touching peoples lives, and motivating them.

You are a designer, musician, producer & sound engineer. How do you manage juggling so many roles?

Even though you’ve said all those titles, those titles have helped prepare me to become a great leader and manager. You have to hire people to help you. You can’t do it all by yourself at all. When you have people who believe in you and see that what you’re doing is great, you hire them. You give them your vision. With the producers, the managers, the engineers – yes, I went through all that, but I also love creating with other people. With the music, the writing is all me. But with the production and the engineering, I hire other people to help me. It’s creating together, and that’s the best part of it. Designing is the same thing. I hire the right team to help me put together a piece of what I have a vision for. I have a whole process with all of it, and it’s all helped me get to this point. You always have to have people to help you and follow that process. That’s why it’s so easy to manage it, but you also have to hone in on your strengths and learn what you’re not best at.

What are you working on right now with your music?

Right now, I’m focusing on singles. Going along with my vision, it helps me because I’m always writing. Every week I’m writing a new song, and I plan to drop a new song every Friday. Right now, I want to focus on whatever I’m feeling at the moment. It can be anything – I listen to so many genres, and I love music so much. If there’s a catchy beat that comes to my mind, I write it, and I will record it that week. I love to create it and think about the creation behind it – what picture is going to go well with it, or what music video can we do this with? That’s the future of the music side of FURGOD.

I hire the right team to help me put together a piece of what I have a vision for.

Any tips for our audience to keep thriving for their goals? How did you manage to keep hustling?

You have to be passionate, and you have to have passion for something. Don’t chase the money. It’s not about it. It’s about the love and passion for what you’re doing. The passion for whatever venture I’m focusing on intrigues me because I love to start something new and see where it develops. I don’t even think about money. For anyone who wants to be successful, find your passion and go with it.

Any fitness regime that you follow, especially in the midst of the pandemic?

I try to go for a walk or run outside to get my mind off things. I’m fortunate enough to have a gym in the building where I live. It’s not hard for me to go down there and take advantage of it. For the people who don’t have that luxury, as long as you exercise your mind and do what you got to do to get through the day, I think that’s what’s important. I know friends who played Call of Duty to have some social interaction at the time. Don’t go cheap on yourself. If it’s expensive to maintain that lifestyle, it’s worth it, especially if it’s for your health.

You have to be passionate, and you have to have passion for something. Don’t chase the money.

As our lives becoming more active on social media, how do you keep your anxiety and mental health in check?

I continue to go out. Unfortunately, certain spots are not open, but as long as you are with your friends, go out. Go fishing, go golfing. Try to keep yourself active. That’s what keeps my mental health sane. The writing of music always helps me a lot too.
