We got you covered with the trendiest of mens accessories, coming straight from the runways of London and Paris at Spring-Summer and Fall-Winter collections 2021.

Gone are the times when fashion rigidly followed the binary notions of gender. Last year, we saw singer Harry Styles donning the androgynous look when he wore-kilted skirt and Victorian crinoline dress, for a much-hyped photoshoot of a magazine. Down the lane, as we witness the fashionable accessories and looks from Paris and London Fashion weeks 2021 in menswear, we see designers upping the experimentation ante on a plethora of aspects like- gender, art, technology, and much more. We saw Harris Reeds fluid fixation with androgynous dresses and huge headpieces at London, Fashion Week; Vivienne Westwood taking inspiration from rococo paintings and fusing art with fashion in his FW21 collection to Isabel Marant promoting big totes as part of mens accessory in its Mens FW21, the accessories for menswear broke the archaic codes this season. Here’s a look at the most debonair of the pieces which captured our imagination.

Fluid Fixation & Punky Headpieces

It is not usual for men to don the flamboyance of colorful and eccentric headgears which are mostly associated with females and artistic performers. However, for designer Harris Reed, his 6 demi-couture looks from LWF were bespoke of an “unashamed self-expression. In his collection, Reed explored Londons visual history and showed the unison of anarchy of punk movement with Britains aristocratic past. For the unversed, the British punk emerged in the streets and suburbs of the United Kingdom in the 1970’s seeing punk bands tremendously influencing the youth with Mohawks, safety pins and audacious attitude. In Reeds collection, one can see impressions of punk in his tulle gowns that were complemented with huge headpieces created in collaboration with Vivienne Lake. These headpieces took inspiration from punkish Mohawks and were executed in the form of peacock plumes. With his collection, Reed aimed to encapsulate ideas of freedom, identity and beauty of fluidity with a rebel streak. His collection refuses to ascribe to just one gender and has a very broad horizon where fashion overlaps with social structures. This fashion language calls to a ‘devil-may-care’ attitude so if you have an eye for the boldest accessory this season, then have a look at these!

Art Muses Fashion With Beret Caps

Art and fashion are similar, in the sense that they are driven by creative force. Realizing this Viviene Westwoods FW21 collection embodies French rococo paintings with a very creative photoshoot set against scrapped walls and unfinished paints that looked like a canvas. The collection exuded modern punk and new wave style made out of sustainable fabrics. But what stood out from the lot was how colorful beret caps and heart-shaped satchels were donned by male models. It is very unconventional to see satchels as an accessory for men but Westwood made it a unisex accessory. Previously, funky neon-colored berets were also seen in Diors Summer 2021 collection that was an ode to Black history month in February. So color-popping berets might sweep the trend charts for men’s fashion this month!

Big Totes Are In For Men

As we mentioned earlier, the Spring/ Summer and Fall/Winter collection has broken many stereotypes for men. We saw headpieces, and satchels and now big totes are ready to be in mens closets this season. At Isabel Marants FW21 Menswear collection that was mostly on trendy sportswear, one can see big totes like bags in pastel green and floral prints. The male models in the collection wore funky hoodies, sneakers, and bucket caps but totes were something that set this collection apart from usual sportswear. It brought in a dash of spunky personality in males who are comfortable in sporting the effeminate totes.
