To Pooch With Love!

It’s true. Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. Two L’Officiel readers tell us about Christmas love they have planned to stuff into the stockings for their darling pooches.

To Pooch With Love!

Thegoodlife 162 December 2013 ON A SPACE TRIP Farah Parve sh, 28, Destination-wedding planner, Mumbai I live in suburban Mumbai and have three Pekinese dogs— Babes, 10, Gucci, 8 and Chaelo, 4. Given the space constraint in the city, my dogs are pretty cramped up. As much as they look forward to their walks, there is hardly any space for them to enjoy themselves freely. Moreover, my job takes me out of Mumbai regularly. And although they have my mother and home help to look after them, my Pekinese miss having me around. So, for this Christmas, I plan to break my dogs’ daily routine and give them space and time as a gift by taking them to a luxury pet-friendly adventure resort at Lonavala, near Mumbai.

During the Christmas weekend,I plan to rent out one of their large tents for a couple of days. I am thrilled that my dogs will have enough space to run around in the property and we will spend some relaxed, fun moments together. It will be a delightful change for them.

THE PRETTY HOUND TREAT Jessica Jerusha Thomas, 24, Owner, Jeru’s Loving Vacation Home for Pets, Bangalore I have many dogs at home, but Lela, my 11-month-old Bull Mastiff, brought from Kerala, is my favourite. Lela loves her food and is ecstatic when her bowl is full with her favourite food—chicken. And so, for Christmas, I plan to give her something she loves— her favourite gourmet cake from Pupcake. It’s something I get my pets for every festival or any happy occasion. The cake is a savoury treat, quite like a meatloaf with gravy, made of chicken, chicken liver, ham, dry fruits and nuts, lots of cheese and everything good for dogs. As she is supposed to share it with everyone, she does it reluctantly, with a sulky face! And this time, as a gift to her, I plan to serve up a bigger chunk of the cake. Another present for Lela this Christmas is a massive, beautiful mirror for her room. From the time I brought her home, Lela has been with my pugs and has, inadvertently, come to believe that she is a pug herself—even imagining herself to be that size. Now, despite her size, she snuggles into places that the pugs get into, getting herself stuck under chairs and sofas in the process. So I plan to gift Lela a huge mirror, so that she knows how big and pretty she is.”
