Work it: Prep your skin with a combination of two parts Chanel Vitalumiere foundation and one part Dior Hydra life BB cream, toeven out and hydrate skin, so it looks dewy. Make sure you apply evenly: Blending everything seamlessly is key when it comes to glowing skin. For just a wash of colour, use Smash Box Blush Rush in Flush, a shimmery, cool pink on the apple of your cheeks.

Create the illusion of limpid eyelids with NARS Matte eyeshadow in Biarritz, a bone coloured neutral. White adds depth and is a great foil for what comes next... A very thin line of YSL Noir Liquid Eyeliner.Stick close to thelashline, and flick out and up at the end,for a subtle cat eye. For those incredible Monroe lashes, turn to falsies from Shu Uemura. Top off with a sweep of Diorshow Mascara, for extra length and an inky black colour. And don’t forget your brows! Groom them with Clinique Superfine Line for brows, along your brow line, for even, thicker eyebrows. For the lips, first create a base to get deeper, longer-lasting colour: Outline and fill in your lips with MAC Redd. Slick on MAC Russian Red, a perfect blue-red. Pronounce your pout with a dot of the clear, but super shimmery, Chanel Levres Scintilla ntes gloss in Sparkle D’or to the centre of the lower lip. The twist: Shake things up with an orange lip. Try YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres glossy stain in Orange de Chine. Silver Screen 134 November 2013 November 2013 135 GRACEKELLY Signature look: Defined, elongated brows, defined features, creamy skin. Why it’saclassic: Because it’s always impeccably refined.
Work it: Focus on creating flawless, matte skin with Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet Plus foundation. Contour your features with MAC Sculpting Pro Powder Palette – use a colour slightly darker than your skin tone to mimic natural shadows in the face. Shade lightly along the hollow of the cheekbone, curve towards the temples and then dust lightly along the ridges of the jawline. Set it with a light dusting of Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder and a natural pinkbrown blush like Bobbi Brown Desert Rose on your cheeks, for a soft matte colour. AUDREY HEPBURN Signature look: Almond, cat eyes with winged eyeliner and thick, dark brows. Why it’s classic: The look is inherently endearing and timeless.
Work it: For satiny skin, apply very little Kevin Aucoin The Liquid Airbrush Foundation. Top off with Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, especially under your eyes. Contour the sides of your nose and along your cheekbones with MAC Sculpting Pro Powder Palette.

Shape and define your brows with Anastasia Brow Wiz and thicken them with Anastasia Brow Powder Duo. Apply Estee Lauder’s Pure Eyeshadow in Sugar Biscuit on the eyelid. Pump up your lash volume with Shu Uemura Black Velvet Feather eyelashes and Benefit They’re Real mascara. Define your eyes with Max Factor Masterpiece Glide & Define Liquid Eye Liner, tilted up and extended towards the end, making a slightly thicker cat eye. Open up the eyes with Maybelline Vivid And Smooth Color Eye Pencil in Metallic Silver, applied to the waterline. Smear a pop of Stila’s Yumberry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain on the cheeks. Outline your lips with Chanel’s Lip Liner in Framboise and fill your lips with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet L’Exuberante. The twist: Instead of your regular black, winged outliner, have some fun with another colour. Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Radium, a bright blue, is a great option. For the eyes, go for neutrals like Dior’s 5-colour eyeshadow palette, Incognito 030, brushing the matte beige over the eyelid and the matte peach into the eye socket. The brown shimmer goes just along the lower lash line with a flat brush. Finish with a sweep of Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara. For the brows, try Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil to elongate and shape your eyebrows.
Line your lips with a lipliner close to your original lip colour and fill in with a matte coral colour like YSL Rouge Pur Pure Lipstick in Rosy Coral.
The twist: Go slightly Goth with a deep plum or oxblood lipstick. We recommend NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Volga, a dark aubergine.

134 November 2013 137 FARRAH FAWCETT Signature look: Healthy, golden, perfect skin. And those famous hair flicks!
Why it’saclassic: The look is bronzed, healthy and oh-so-sexy.
Work it: The focus is golden skin. Of course, it works best if you already have a tan, because a bronzed face and a white body will always look a little off. Get that sunkissed look with Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser in Golden Radiance mixed with Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder, applied over your face and neck. Use a lighter shade of the bronzer on your eyelids. Curl your lashes followed by multiple coats of Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara. Feel free to go to town with it. Curl your eyelashes again. Apply a thin line of Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Beige on the lower lash line, with a flat brush.

For your cheeks, dust NARS Orgasm over your cheekbones. Keep the lips nude, with Tom Ford Lip Color in Blush Nude, and add just a hint of shine with a clear gloss like Smashbox O-Gloss. For a bronzed body, rub on the shimmery version of Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse.
The twist: Try a white shimmer on the eyes, like Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in Tattle Tale, a rich buttercream all over the eyelid and along the lower lash line. One swipe of Benefit They’re Real mascara, and you’re good to go. Or, amp up your lips with Giorgio Armani’s Lip Gloss Lip Shimmer in Peach.
November 2013 139 Elegance, grace, glamour and that little something you can’t name, Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire, literally, The Little Black Dress, is every woman’s vanity must-have. Perfume critic Luca Turin once observed that Guerlain never starts with a blank page, but with a blurred filigree of everything they’ve ever built. The perfumes of the House of Guerlain, founded in 1828, are bound by an olfactory accord, or in other words, have a common base, a house signature. This house signature, referred to as the Guerlinade, usually starts with bergamot over lilac, a trace of linden and tonka bean, followed by intense rose and jasmine. Notes of iris and vanilla soften them.
The House of Guerlain works with this signature arrangement, tweaking, adding, subtracting, to create a new fragrance, always in some ways reminiscent of the classic. Variations on a symphony, so to speak. Over the years, the deep, musky, animal overtones have given way to cleaner, fresher, more contemporary fragrances, while retaining that very classic, feminine feel. It might be young and crisp, but a perfume afficianado, and a Guerlain loyalist, will always be able to tell that it’s part of the family.
Launched by Wasser in 2009, La Petite Robe Noire was the famous perfumer Thierry Wasser’s reinterpretation of the House of Guerlain’s acclaimed Guerlinade. Until Wasser took over as the nose at Guerlain, it had been a family-owned and -run house of perfumes. Having proved his olfactory chops at Firmenich and Givaudan, Wasser was considered worthy of stepping into the family shoes and was entrusted with the family secret, the formula book. The result? A young classic: The very flirtatious La Petite Robe Noire.
And the affair starts with the bottle itself. The pastel, powdery pink number with an LBD etched on it is a nod to the essentially feminine, hinting at the classic, the alluring, the lady who wants to dance the night away. The first whiff is black cherry, berries, almond and bergamot. What follows is a blend of Bulgarian and Turkish roses, and bringing up the rear are licorice, aniseed, tonka beans, vanilla, iris and patchouli, at the base.
Wear it the the Guerlain way, suggests Charmaine Khatri, National Trainer, Guerlain India. Start by tracing the left sleeve of the dress, spray up and along the neckline and finish with the other sleeve. And psst, she’s giving away a Guerlain secret - to leave a discreet and unforgettable scent trail, spray some on the hem of your dress. So get your sexy on, and dance the night away in a cloud of mystery.
