Skin minimalism

Skin Minimalism is trending at a peak. Prada introduced model Vira Bosh a debutante for one of its collection’s with subtly perfected skin and little to no eye shadow. New York and London Fashion Week’s makeup stylists have also focused more on giving a minimalistic look to their shows and have reflected effortless makeup regime. Similarly, the beauty experts at Miu Miu also swept behind skin fetish of glorifying the natural skin beauty with sublime skin highlighter in champagne gold and glassy effect for cheekbones. Jason Ju was among few designers who went physical with the runways during New York Fashion Week with models carrying easy fresh skin and faux freckles. Even Sandy Liang’s makeup artist Sena Murkashi purposely displayed their models with invisible natural makeup, keeping it all trendy and relatable.

Dewy skin and tainted lips

Dewy skin is also something similar to having a natural skin. It’s somewhat near to not applying makeup (or which doesn’t look like you applied any makeup). At Hermes, few models staged the nude dewy look on the ramp walks with tainted lips. Similarly, Max Mara’s makeup artist Diane Kendal swiped the models with different shades of crimson red to cranberry red according to their skin, while keeping rest of the face natural and dewy. At Rodarte, the collection defined the dewy look while Mulleavy Sisters, wanted the skin of the model to look soft and fresh with oxblood or beige-nude lip in the landscape of California and guess what, they completely nailed it! The extreme mascara and tainted lips brought the freshness and dewy highlight to the natural beauty.

Glossy Glow

A healthy glow is a key to 2021. Glossy skin was all over latest runways. Amito Lagum, a model from Bobbi Brown, walked in the most radiant and captivating style, using soft finish matte foundation with tinted hydrating lip and wash colour giving a natural face. It’s more like faking a glow now and with time it’s easy to get that look by applying soft glow foundations. Even makeup artist Lucia Peroni defined the beauty look at Victoria Beckham as glossy and radiant with models walked with nude makeup. Today glossy skin is gaining its popularity like wildfire. Nobody knew that they desired a glossy glow until Instagram showed us. If we look back, we can see that this trend has a cultural reference to Korean skincare and brands like Glossier.

Blush it up

Blush is the most effortless and impactful makeup instrument. It does give a completely natural look and at the same time makes you look pretty with just one use of the product! At Alberta Ferretti, makeup artist Daine Kendal used a powder blush with subtle yet bold flush keeping the skin dewy. The orange tangerine blush thus created a natural hue contrasting lightly with the model skin tone.

Contouring 2.0

With less makeup, contouring has also changed its way and made it to its lighter version in 2021. And so we welcome a softer contouring method by Sir John. Makeup artist Sir John recently collaborated with Barbie style and Beyoncé and created 6 looks for different skin tone and individual styles. He says that he gets his inspiration through Instagram and this year contouring your face but not highlighting the hard lines is the trend. It resonates with the theme of this year which is no-makeup look. So anything that looks natural and effortless is in!
