Here are the designs from the Paris fashion week SS23, that really stood out and must not be missed.
Saint Laurent:
As the Paris fashion week unfolds in all its splendour, the eyes of the fashion world are fixed upon one show in particular – That of the storied house of Saint Laurent. The brand’s presentation exudes a sense of Parisian elegance. This season, however, the label decided to scale back the grandeur and instead offered a more intimate, exclusive experience, drawing inspiration directly from the brand’s rich archives.

As the models sauntered down the runway, it was immediately apparent that the iconic silky, tubular hood was the defining element of the entire collection. Leather jackets were aplenty, a hallmark of the house, but the collection took a new, alluring edge with the addition of these hooded dresses and coats with exaggerated shoulders. The chic addition is undoubtedly an iconic look that has permeated pop culture throughout the years, with the likes of Grace Jones and Martha Graham donning the hooded look.
This season, the brand’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello took the suit silhouette in a bold new direction, introducing soft suiting in pyjama-like shapes, adorned with luxurious leathers, metal cuffs and sunglasses. The overall vibe was upbeat and sophisticated, perfectly fitting for the glamorous nights in Paris where the collection was showcased. Every piece was a feast for the eyes, even from the vantage point of a spectator’s seat. This collection was a true testament to the enduring legacy of Saint Laurent.
Loewe:

Anderson’s latest collection presented at the Paris fashion week SS23 delves deep into the world of fashion, exploring the idea of clothing as a form of protection. The collection was presented extraordinarily, with a thirty-foot anthurium as the centrepiece. The collection expertly balances the worlds of reality and surreality, resulting in a bold new vision of shape and form. The designer’s use of shorter, tighter silhouettes is nothing short of brilliant, creating garments that exude both power and vulnerability.
The anthurium motif was a recurring theme throughout the 53 looks, appearing in different forms such as an oversized bustier top paired with sharp black trousers or as the bodice of a mini dress. Jonathan Anderson played with the idea of blurring the line between what is real and what is fake, as evident in the pixelated trompe-l’oeil on a shirt and trouser combination. The designer also included subtle elements from past collections, such as the reappearance of deflated red balloons on shoes.
