The season began with swim and resort wear in Miami, and powered through with a slightly modified format (as the British Fashion Council canceled its edition of men’s week): menswear collections debuted in Milan and Paris, Haute Couture Week also followed in Paris, mens- and womenswear collections were displayed at New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, and women’s ready-to-wear collections completed the season in Milan and Paris. This display of fashion widely revealed how the future of fashion is becoming increasingly influenced by culturally infused garments rising out of obscurity. Nonmainstream fashions are entering the mainstream fashion capitals of the world. These capitals maintaining dominant influence on the global fashion industry have the majority of the world dressing like American-, British-, French-, and Italian men. However, clothing reflecting the cultural identity, past, present, and desired future, of an individual is continuously being presented in such capitals from a more direct and unappropriated perspective. The following looks at, in reverse chronological order, multicultural brands bringing a unique adaptation of an element within their culture to the center stage of the fashion industry.
Shiro Mani | Artisanal Clothing Brand
Paris, France | Runway S/S 2026 | Produced by Chez Les Mannequins

Called an “ode to age-old arts from the Indian subcontinent,” Shiro Mani brought traditional Indian garments with a fresh modern aesthetic to shows during Paris Fashion Week. The show, themed on fresh laundry, featured a sheet above the runway, blowing in the wind, representing linen drying, childhood, and nostalgia. Each garment presented by a woman walking barefoot made its debut under this sheet, unveiling a modern take on traditional Indian-wear and artistry.
