Electric Models Leading Innovation

The electric SUVs signify an evolving, unprecedented quality and innovation from automobile producers. Future driving experiences promise to continue as fresh, vibrant, and engaging as this current set. So brace yourself for the exciting ride!

Polestar 4

Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 is a Swedish-inspired electric vehicle capable of five persons and is renowned as a sporty, mid-sized "SUV Coupé." It has a dual-motor configuration bringing 544bhp with catapulting capability from 0 to 62mph in a mere 3.8 seconds, whereas its single-motor variant will push out 272bhp, a feat completed within 7.1 seconds. Their top speed is 124mph, but the only excitement this dual-motor version carries is that it's a low-range edition.

While the Polestar 4 presents a rather new aesthetic, some compromises were arguably made on rear visibility and marginally enhanced aerodynamics of the 2.3-tonne SUV at a cost to the rear headroom. The dual-motor does feel better balanced and more enjoyable than its single-motor sibling, although priced higher.

MINI Cooper Countryman

The new car is built on the UKL2 platform, which supports various 'smaller' BMW models, including the latest X2. According to Mini, the new Countryman boasts wider tracks, a longer wheelbase, and a low center of gravity.

The entry version of the Countryman features a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with more than 150bhp. Mild-hybrid assistance should add up the total system output to 168bhp, but this front-wheel drive example is unavailable elsewhere and can cover 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds.

The car will feature a strut brace to increase its rigidity and stabilizer mounts on the axles for better responsiveness. The car also features bigger tires than its predecessor, and the JCW will feature 19- or 20-inch alloys using secondary and recycled materials, while lower-spec Countryman C will use 17- or 18-inch tires. This fluid, firm-riding, four-wheel drive machine does a commendable job with its mass. It's agile and firmly responsive in braking and acceleration but not class-leading in finesse.

Porsche Macan 4

Porsche Macan 4

Porsche's best-selling car in the UK, and an entry point to Porsche ownership, is now an electric-only model. Initially available in two variants, the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo, both have dual motors and a substantial 100kWh battery. With 95kWh of usable capacity, the Macan 4 has a 380-mile range, and the Turbo manages only 367 miles, not by much. Both use the same front motor, but the Turbo also pushes the rear unit harder to enable its performance upgrade.

If using a 400-volt charger, the battery can 'bank charge' or split into two sections, allowing for better charging without using the Taycan's high-voltage booster. The design of the Macan is all about versatility. It offers a comfortable driving experience in urban settings and enough handling finesse to enjoy on twisty roads. Many other mid-sized electric SUVs fail to impress, but the Macan delivers a rewarding driving experience across different environments.

Ford Capri

Ford Capri

The Ford Capri is a mid-sized electric SUV that consists of two motors at both ends and comes with a 77kWh battery. A one-speed transmission together with the drivetrain makes for 4WD. In a 335bhp performance level, there exists a very relevant torque amount: 501 lb-ft. That can be achieved when topping out at charging speeds of up to 185kW and reaching a top speed of 111mph with a range of 346 miles. It does not share its sibling's generic styling but gets cues from the original Capri—a coupé version of the Cortina, in the shape of front and rear styling, window outline, and cabin silhouette. It completes the 0-62mph dash in 3.6 seconds.

It travels a top speed of 111mph and a range of 346 miles. This is to be attained through a top speed of 111mph, 346 miles to the tank when topping out, and with its charging at speeds up to 185kW. Inside, it's a very modern, minimalist cabin, but with an impressive large touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, and premium upholstery. It has all the advanced driver-assistance systems, like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking, which make it one of the more tech-forward SUVs that also happens to deliver a great performance along with a day-to-day practicality.
