A Shark’s Tale

On this World Oceans Day, Ulysse Nardin came out with a new watch that caught the eye of viewers in no time. The brand is known for its contribution in tackling the problem of climate change for quite some time now. The use of recycled fishnets for watch straps and the work of spreading awareness through its esteemed pieces is worth our appreciation. Similarly, the brand has also been obsessed with sharks and their importance in our marine ecosystem. Their latest piece Diver Lemon Shark goes on to actively represent the issue of sharks and the ocean’s health. Know more about this timepiece here!

The watch highlights the vulnerable status of Lemon Sharks in our oceans and the need to protect them. The brilliant dial of this watch is black in colour and has a grey super-LumiNova hour and minute hands and indices. Along with this, it also has yellow second hand and indices. One of the most intriguing features of this watch is its case. It has a blackened stainless-steel case with a black and silver unidirectional bezel. It includes a crown for date and time adjustments as well as manual winding. The glass used is sapphire glass crystal that gives it a protective coat and a wonderful look. With all of this, the watch also features an engraved case-back with three sharks that enhance the watch’s look even more.

When we talk about specifications, the case diameter is 42mm. This watch is water-resistant for up to 30 bars. As a part of the brand’s collaboration with Ocean Data Research Charity OCEARCH and Florida International University, this watch has only 300 pieces in production. The model is made in Switzerland and the reference number can be found on the brand’s website. It has a Swiss-made calibre UN-816 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. It has 21 jewels engraved in it which surely make it a luxury.

The strap is made from recycled salvaged fishing nets and tries to offer a stable wrist position. However, the strap can be on a shorter side. While the strap may be fine for smaller wrists, it can sometimes be too tight for larger wrists as well. The securing element on the strap can be helpful in such cases. Referencing the hue of the magnificent lemon shark, the bezel dial and the crown have touches of yellow that can surely be a selling point. So, if you want to do good for the oceans, buy this watch.

Price: Rs. 7,33,300 approx.
