The rainy season, summers, or winters – the cold breeze takes over nature most of the time all around the year.

BASED IN THE HIMALAYAN HEIGHTS

The Himalayas have been one of the most popular destinations that need no introduction. But the place we are talking about is nothing less than Heaven itself – Kinnaur. It’s also called the land of Apricots and Apples.

Be it the rainy season, summers, or winters – the cold breeze takes over nature most of the time all around the year. Due to its geographical location in Sangla Valley, Himachal Pradesh, it is one of the coldest places in India – also one of the finest apple producers.

One of the things that you can explore in the abyss of summers are the natural views – heatwaves become our biggest enemies and you can’t even walk without air-conditioners. Rivers like Sutlej, Baspa, and Spiti gush over this town and you can feel the river gushing due to the calm and silent bees of the area.

Originating from the Baspa hills, the Baspa River is one of the most beautiful sights in the town.

TALKING OF THE RIVERS

If you are an aqua-man or a woman, then Kinnaur might just be for you. You might have seen rivers many a time that emerge on plains, beaches and whatnot, but something that has a magnificent feel associated with it is rivers emerging from hills.

Do you remember the generic photograph of a river emerging out of mountains that was used everywhere? Well, stepping a foot in Kinnaur will make you feel like you’re living there. Originating from the Baspa hills, the Baspa River is one of the most beautiful sights in the town.

Many glaciers are visible from the river – one of them is Chung Sakhago Pass. Later, the baspa river gets merged with the larger Sutlej River. It is also home to the largest river that flows through the streams of India and Pakistan.

Known to be made by Lord Badrinath Ji, there sits a fort-like structure on the top of the mountain which signifies its highest point.

OPEN THE FORTLY GATES

If you must follow the princely state of Bushahr, Himachal Pradesh – you might have heard about Kamru. Being the capital state of Bushahr principate, this is a high-altitude mountain which sits right in the middle of it about 2900 meters above sea level.

Known to be made by Lord Badrinath Ji, there sits a fort-like structure on the top of the mountain which signifies its highest point. There are supposedly around 33 crore gods and goddesses that are believed to be residing in the fort. You will find authenticity attached to all bits and pieces that this port and mountain has to offer.

You can enjoy the yearly trek of vertical mountains which comprises around 80 meters.

THE LAND OF GODS

One of the most popular sights and the one which attracts most of the tourists is a 7kms uphill drive on the Shimla-Kinnaur-Kaza highway and you will enter the high heavens of Reckongpeo. Don’t worry, this hill station is not as difficult as its name.

You can get lost in the galvanic sights of Kinner Kailash which sits right in front of the river Sutlej. What is Kinner Kailash? Well, sitting 6050 meters above sea level, this peak is believed to be the residence of Lord Shiva. You can also enjoy the yearly trek of vertical mountains which comprises around 80 meters.

It looks something like an actual footprint and it can be a really good chilling point.

MESMERIZING CHILLING POINT

Are you a picture enthusiast too? Well, we will take you to the most breathtaking view of Kinnaur. Sitting around 3,662 meters above sea level, Nako is one of the most picturesque places with a small circular lake and some Buddhist monasteries accompanying it.

Why did we call the small lake circular? Well, because if you see it from above, it looks something like an actual footprint and it can be a really good chilling point. Tashigang monastery can also be found within the region itself.

Being from India, this is the one thing that we are blessed with; diversity. From every road to every turn, everything changes.

ENJOYING THE LAST RIDE

Don’t panic yet as we continue our voyage deeper and deeper into Kinnaur we finally come to a halt at Chitkul – the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border. Due to the natural extremities, this village is inhabited and it is located somewhere around 25 kilometres from the Sangla Valley.

You can find immense peace due to the less to zero population and adding to that – the Baspa River flows right beside the village which makes this spot a must-visit. You can also do camping beside the river if you wish to.
