Let’s give our hands, the due attention, that they deserve for doing most of your work without complaint. Lets treat them generously with these easy tips.

We used to apply hand sanitisers even before the Covid 19 pandemic had shaken the world, but as it spread like a wildfire and took a grasp of the whole world, using hand sanitisers became inevitable. All governments and health authorities across the globe put great emphasis on using hand sanitisers. However, applying it incessantly may cause harm to the skin of your hands in various forms such as skin sensitivity, dryness, burning sensation, and itching. Therefore, it has become even more important these days that you take care of your hands without a miss to maintain their beauty. How about we, suggesting skin care tips for your hands to keep them gorgeous and nourished? Well, read on!

1. Using Right Moisturiser

Don’t take the moisture of your hands for granted. Your hands need to be pampered as they do most of your chores throughout the day. It has now become more important than ever to apply moisturiser, as continuous exposure of hands to alcohol-based sanitisers is leaving them dry these days. Therefore, apply good quality moisturiser or hand cream at least four times a day, specially before bed. Remember, moisturising creams give better performance than lotions in protecting your hands against dryness, as they remain longer in the skin, than lotions. When you gently apply the moisturiser on your hands, also apply it on your nails one by one, giving them a gentle massage. This will leave your hands softer, and your nails repaired.

2. Washing and Scrubbing

The World Health Organisation, in its hundreds of press addresses, has emphasised washing hands with soap and water continuously for minimum 20 seconds, to prevent the spread of virus through hands. Therefore, keep washing your hands frequently even if they don’t look dirty. Scrubbing your hands once in a week with good quality exfoliants is recommended, as they help get rid of the dead skin. You can use home made scrubs such as coffee scrub, rice and milk cream scrub and olive oil, sugar and lime juice scrub and so on.

Your nails, if not cut and cleaned properly, may serve as host for many bacteria and viruses, including the dreaded coronavirus. Besides this, healthy nails always enhance the beauty of hands. There are many products for nail care, available in the stores such as virgin coconut oil, sheer buttercream, Jojoba oil etc. to do the task for you. You can also go for homemade nail soaks if you do not want any chemicals on them. One of such soaks is lemon garlic soak which can easily be made in no time. Just mix lemon or orange with a crushed clove of garlic and soak your nail for minimum of ten minutes in this mixture. After this, wash your hands with lukewarm water and wipe them dry. Now apply any essential oil of your choice. Repeat the process at least twice a week. You will notice shining, healthier and stronger nails.
