Gorgeous and stunning Jamaican beauty – Alicia Burke was first discovered by Pulse models during their Caribbean Model Search. Initially planning to be a midwife, Alicia took the modelling route, and man, we are glad! Just a year after being discovered, she climbed the ladders of success, by featuring in multiple fashion weeks and brands around the globe, including 2016 Bottega Veneta, Miu Miu, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger, amongst others. So, we are proud to say that the ravishing 5’10 Alicia is here exclusively to talk with us and give us a peek into her journey so far.
Q- We read that you decided to be a midwife, we are glad that you chose modelling; but how did the shift happen?
The shift happened with a dare, from an old friend who believed that I could be a model. I was dared to enter a modelling competition that takes place every year in Jamaica. Upon entering said competition, I won! The rest is history!
Q- What was your most favorite moment or biggest highlight in your career life so far?
The biggest highlight of my career would be gracing the cover of Vogue Italia, shot by the talented Steven Meisel. This moment was an awe-inspiring moment because what was supposed to be just a feature turned out to be one of the proudest moments of my life to date, the cover!
Q- Who’s your favorite stylist? What do you love most about him/her?
My favorite stylist would be Roderick Hawthorne because not only does he have a good work ethic, but he is talented and creative in what he does. Bringing a reference or theme to life makes working with him an easy task.

Q- During your career years as a model, did you ever face any flak or biasness?
During the span of my career, I have faced several criticisms that would make any model want to give up! I have been told, you are not tall enough, you’re too fat!, you’re too cute and the worst of all was being discriminated and rejected for the color of my skin. These all motivated me to work harder towards championing who I am and my unique beauty.
Q- You have come a long and successful way in your career path. What next? Any dream projects in the pipeline?
What’s next? I’m aiming towards landing more covers and beauty contracts such as Maybelline, and LOral. I hope to start my own business, write a book and even start a family.Â
Q- What are the 5 skincare mantras that you swear by?
The five skin care mantra that I swear by would be; My skin is beautiful just as it is, day and night routine is essential because I deserve self love, no product is too expensive for my skin because it deserves natural and quality products, water and vitamins are vital, treating my skin with daily love!
Q- Since a healthy fit figure is everything in this industry; what is your go-to workout style and why?
I do not have a go to workout style but if I must choose, I love a good cardio session and high intensity workout.
