Long sixties mermaid hair, clear eyes, determined and sad at the same time: Alexandra Savior is not only pretty but talented above all. “As a child, I always liked to write, paint and sing, so at the age of 15, I auditioned for a talent competition at my school. When I got on stage and sang, people seemed to react positively to my voice. It was then that I realised that music was a way for me to create my own world.” She began writing songs in her suburban bedroom of Portland and hasn’t stopped since.
Her last few songs (posted on YouTube) caught the eyes of Courtney Love, the badass of American music, and other budding artists such as Miles Kane and more. She even wrote a song for True Detective with Alex Turner, her best friend, and the frontman of the Arctic Monkeys. After the huge success of her first song, she co-produced her first album, Belladonna of Sadness, which was released two years ago.
With The Archer, the young woman continues cultivating the ground of success. These ten new songs, coming with a retro and pop-folk vibe resonate heartbreaks in a melodious way. She has been working on this album for the past two years. “For my sanity, it was important to write every day. I would get up, have coffee and read, then play the guitar and compose for several hours, then go to my best friend’s house to test my melodies on the piano.”
Her inspirations? “Apart from the horror movies I watch over and over again, the many unhealthy relationships I have endured in my personal and professional life were the driving force of the songs. Humbert Humbert, the protagonist of the novel Lolita was also a reference for me. Further, I have observed a lot about the psychology of predatory or manipulative figures who have been involved in my life since my childhood, they have added to it too.” With all this and more, The Archer promises buzz and a connection especially, with the heartbroken ones.
