2020 is off to a great start, as the fashion bible of the world - L'Officiel, announced the appointment of Stefano Tonchi as Chief Creative Officer, a newly created role for the global media group. Bringing his years of experience to the fore, Stefano will lead L’Officiel’s brand strategy globally, overseeing all 31 editions around the world, launching new content franchises and multiplatform initiatives, and providing creative direction on special projects including L’Officiel’s 100th anniversary, which begin later this year.
Stefano will hit the ground running at L'Officiel, working on an exciting array of projects from the moment he begins his role on January 10 and will be based in L’Officiel’s New York City headquarters. He will be joining L’Officiel’s global leadership team comprising of CEO Benjamin Eymère, Chairman and GEM Founder Christopher Brown, Co-Chair Marie-José Jalou, Deputy CEO Maria Cecilia Andretta, and Global CRO Erica Bartman, with the goal of accelerating the group’s business transformation worldwide.
“L’Officiel has built an incredibly rich and storied legacy as one of the world’s first fashion magazines, and there is immense potential for it to grow and innovate as a multiplatform brand. I look forward to working with the team to develop global, social-first content that celebrates youth worldwide, and to mix fashion with art, cinema and culture, crossing disciplines as we cross borders," said Stefano.
Over the course of his career, his portfolio boasts of his contribution in the publishing industry, as he held the role of Editor-in-Chief of W, Creator and Editor-in-Chief of T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and Fashion Creative Director of Esquire. He has curated several exhibitions and written accompanying books, in addition to serving as a lecturer. Most recently Stefano, has served as a consultant whose clients included L’Officiel, GEM, and other fashion companies and cultural institutions that he will continue to advise.
