She’s keepin’ it real with Gucci. The British illustrator, Fashion Pun-k aka Angelica Hicks collaborates with the Italian House for a limited-edition t-shirt collection. A must-have? But of course!
Be it Kim Kardashian, Snoop Dogg, Salvatore Dali or Wednesday Addams, Angelica Hicks has spared no one and Alessandro Michele found her (no surprise here) on Instagram. She has taken over the illustrative work of 1,100 of Gucci’s t-shirts with 11 of her ironic line drawing designs that pun-fully mark her style. What’s even better is that each of the unisex fit t-shirts is packaged in a vintage-style metal box with the same art work that the t-shirt within has.
There will also be tiny die-cut miniatures of all the available prints in this collection which are to be used as decoration. The packaging is completed with a printed card that explains the exclusive nature of the collection and encourages customers to engage with the brand through the #guccigeeks project.
There’s more. We know that Angelica’s designs express the uniqueness of fashion. The House is celebrating this collaboration with the almost forgotten art form of hand painted outdoor advertising. The Gucci Art Wall project in New York City’s Soho neighbourhood, a mural done by San Francisco-based artist Jayde Fish named ‘The Hermit’, was unveiled in February, while another one simultaneously appeared on a wall in Milan’s Largo la Foppa quarter, in the lively pedestrian district of Corso Garibaldi. The latter will showcase the illustration for two months and then will continue to change the display with special art projects until the end of the year.
We knew when art meets fashion, there will be magic in the air. We are already in love.
