Hi Ameer, welcome to L’Officiel. How would you describe your personal style, and does it influence the designs you create for AMR Couture?
My personal style is a blend of timeless elegance and contemporary boldness. I love structured silhouettes, rich textures, and intricate detailing. This aesthetic naturally translates into AMR Couture, where every piece is designed to make a statement while maintaining a sense of sophistication. Whether designing for adults or children, I always strive to bring a sense of luxury and individuality to each creation.
Your designs have graced runways from Dubai to Paris and Russia. How do different cultures influence your creations, and can you share a memorable experience from showcasing your work internationally?
Fashion is a universal language, but every culture adds its own unique accent. Dubai’s opulence, Paris’s effortless chic, and Russia’s appreciation for drama and grandeur all inspire me in different ways. One of my most memorable experiences was showcasing in Paris, where I introduced a collection inspired by Arabian heritage with a modern European twist. Seeing the audience embrace that fusion was incredibly rewarding.
AMR Couture has expanded to include children’s fashion. What unique considerations do you take into account when designing for younger clients, and how do you balance comfort with style?
Children’s fashion requires a delicate balance of whimsy, elegance, and practicality. Comfort is key—so I prioritize soft, breathable fabrics and ensure ease of movement in every design. At the same time, I want kids to feel special, like they’re stepping into a fairytale when they wear AMR Couture. Every detail, from embellishments to fit, is thoughtfully crafted to bring joy without compromising on comfort.
What is the most unusual place or experience that has inspired one of your designs?
One of my collections was inspired by a visit to an ancient palace in India. The intricate carvings, vibrant mosaics, and the way light filtered through stained-glass windows left a lasting impression. I translated these elements into a collection featuring hand-embroidered patterns, jewel-toned fabrics, and flowing silhouettes reminiscent of royalty.
If you could collaborate with any designer, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would love to collaborate with Alexander McQueen. His ability to merge fashion with storytelling, art, and emotion was truly unparalleled. He had a fearless approach to design, pushing boundaries while maintaining an impeccable level of craftsmanship. I admire how he infused historical and cultural elements into his work, creating pieces that were both avant-garde and timeless. A collaboration between McQueen’s theatrical vision and AMR Couture’s elegance and craftsmanship would be an incredible fusion of drama, luxury, and innovation.
What’s one thing about the fashion industry that people don’t see behind the glitz and glamour?
The immense dedication and craftsmanship that go into every piece. People see the final runway show, but they don’t see the late nights, the intricate handwork, and the countless hours of perfecting a single garment. Fashion is an art form, and behind the glamour is a team of artisans, designers, and dreamers making it all come to life.
Your ballerina collection was a powerful statement for peace. What other causes are close to your heart that you’d love to represent through fashion?
Fashion is a powerful platform for storytelling and advocacy. I’m deeply passionate about inclusivity and empowerment, especially for women and children. I would love to create a collection that celebrates diversity, featuring designs inspired by different cultures and communities around the world, emphasizing unity and strength.
How do you see the future of sustainable fashion, and is AMR Couture incorporating eco-friendly elements?
Sustainability is the future of fashion, and I believe luxury and responsibility can go hand in hand. At AMR Couture, we are incorporating eco-friendly fabrics, ethical sourcing, and sustainable production methods. We’re also exploring ways to repurpose couture pieces, ensuring that beauty and sustainability coexist.
What’s one dream project you haven’t done yet but would love to?
I would love to design costumes for a major theatrical production or a high-fashion film. Fashion and storytelling are deeply connected, and bringing my designs to life on stage or screen would be an incredible experience.
What legacy do you hope AMR Couture leaves in the fashion world?
I hope AMR Couture is remembered for its artistry, craftsmanship, and ability to make people feel extraordinary. I want my designs to transcend trends and tell timeless stories—whether through elegance, innovation, or cultural fusion. Ultimately, I want AMR Couture to inspire creativity and leave a mark of beauty and meaning in the world of fashion.
