While Anupamaa Dayal’s skin and makeup rack boasts of careful picks from across the globe, she amplifies her beauty quotient by adding spa treatments and everyday detox to her fast-paced lifestyle. 

Which is your favourite spa treatment?

I am a spa buff and indulge in a variety of treatments. However, instead of closed cocoon-like spaces, I like inspiring views while getting a treatment done. A great spa memory would be the one I enjoyed at Luang Prabang, Laos. It is an extremely organic town, where holistic living seems to come naturally. I loved the massage there. I also swear by our own Ayurvedic treatments. Another big favourite is the town of Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand, which is actually a spa destination.

What is your skincare routine?

After I splash water on my face, I use a Vitamin C serum. I massage it in and leave for the gym. Post my morning shower, I repeat the use of Vitamin C, followed by a moisturiser and top it with an Avène sunscreen. I use the emulsion. I do a quick water splash on my face and reapply sunscreen at lunchtime. My night-time skincare regime is to wash my face with besan and wear a serum. My night cream is from Retorna. During winters, I also massage in a drop of glycerin after I wash my face, while it is still wet. 

What’s your detox?

I try and make detox a regular part of my life, rather than something that I do only after binges. I am a practising Buddhist, which helps me lead a balanced life. I also want to meditate more. I love fragrances and like to envelop my physical spaces with calming scents. For physical detox, I start my day with a litre of warm water with lemon juice, ginger juice and organic honey.
