Hi Veronica, welcome to L’Officiel India! What’s a common misconception about being a model that you’d like to debunk?

Thank you for having me! Well, there are many misconceptions about it, but I can mention the most common one about being a model which is “the only important thing is to look good and you just have to stand in front of the camera”. While appearance is important, the reality of modeling is also about hard work and dedication. You have to understand the vision of the brand or designer and know how to express emotions through body language, and looks, also there is intense preparation behind each shoot and show. We invest a lot of time to maintain our physical and mental well-being since we are often under demanding schedules which means that is the opposite of popular belief, I can say that it’s a profession that requires focus, resilience, patience, creativity, and constant growth. There’s also a need to build a thick skin to handle the ups and downs of the industry while keeping your confidence strong when you’re not feeling or looking your best, when that happens I just say to myself, that’s OK. To close I can also mention something that not many people know about the fashion world, and that is that standards can be incredibly demanding, so learning how to maintain your mental and emotional balance becomes just as important as taking care of your physical appearance it’s this inner strength that often defines long term success in the industry.

Do you have any personal rituals or habits that help you stay resilient and positive, especially when facing tough times?

Absolutely! One habit that has been key for me is reading, I love diving into books that inspire me or allow me to disconnect from the hustle for a moment. It’s almost like a form of meditation for me when I read, I feel fully immersed in another world, and that helps me to reset. Running also helps a lot and sauna sessions to muscle relaxation. Not forgetting mindfulness what is also a great way to check in with me and stay positive, no matter how busy things get. Those are the rituals that truly help me stay balanced and keep my energy up, especially during long days on set and traveling.

As a model, you must have had some incredible experiences. What’s the most unusual or surprising location you’ve ever done a photo shoot in?

One of the most surprising locations I’ve ever shot in was on a floating platform in the middle of a lake in Italy. The shoot took place at sunrise, and we had to take a small boat to reach this floating structure, which was positioned in the middle of a calm lake surrounded by lush mountains, it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, completely disconnected from the rest of the world. The water was so calm that it created perfect mirror reflections of the mountains and sky, adding this almost surreal beauty to the entire scene. The challenge came in maintaining balance on the floating platform while making a beautiful and calm face. It was a big challenge for me though, the shoot felt incredibly special and it’s an experience that always stands out when I think of my most memorable shoots.

What has been the most surprising or unexpected finding in your psychology studies so far?

Previously I started studying psychology I had a bit of an idea about how our early experiences shape us, but I never realized just how deeply that could influence our future. I’ve been amazed by how much those childhood episodes shape our adult behaviors and relationships. Learning about attachment theory, for example, helped me to understand why we form certain patterns in relationships and how we can work to change them.

Psychology and fashion might seem worlds apart, but they overlap in fascinating ways. Can you share an insight from your studies that you’ve applied to your fashion career?

Psychology and fashion might seem very different, but they have some interesting connections. A key finding from my psychology studies that connect with fashion is the idea of self-concept and identity, our style is a reflection of who we are and how we see ourselves, which makes fashion a powerful tool for expressing our identities. Fashion is a form of self-expression, and psychology helps us understand why we make the choices we do when it comes to what we wear. By understanding the psychological basis of self-concept, I’ve become more thoughtful about how I use fashion to project my unique persona and connect with others on a deeper level. In my model career, everything starts from the way you dress to certain casting linked to the way you move your body and express yourself in front of the camera or in a catwalk. Empathy is key, understanding what the other person wants and creating a narrative together to achieve surprising insights and results that can shift previous perceptions of any situation, creating new points of view and inspiring people to become the best version of themself. Fashion and psychology have at some point those common goals and it’s where they connect.

Traveling seems to be a big part of your life. If you could pack only three items for a spontaneous trip, what would they be and why?

If I could only pack three items for a spontaneous trip, I’d bring a good book because reading is my go-to way to relax and recharge, and I always take a book with me, no matter where I’m going.  A versatile outfit, something simple yet stylish that can easily transition from casual daytime to a chic dinner or event in the evening, and my skincare essentials, because I can’t live without them. Traveling can be tough on your skin, I always carry a good moisturizer, lip mask, and sunscreen in my bag.

What exciting projects or goals are you currently working towards in your career? Got any juicy sneak peeks or exciting goals you’re itching to spill?

Last year, I decided to take on a new challenge and started studying psychology. It’s something I’m passionate about. My goal now is to combine these two worlds. I’m excited about upcoming projects that focus on mental health advocacy, and I’m working on ways to use my platform in the fashion industry to raise awareness and promote a more positive, supportive environment for everyone involved. There’s some exciting stuff on the horizon that I can’t wait to share!
