Tropical In All Senses? We Have Doubts

New Issue, New Fragrance But This Time It’s An Angel In An Elixir Bottle Which Is Quite Dark… Sounds Like It Will Stay Closer To The Original Angel DNA! Find Below, How

In 1992, Mugler revolutionized the perfume industry by introducing the first-ever gourmand fragrance, Angel, in its blue star bottle; to achieve legendary status. Fast forward to this year, the house has released a new star in the Angel Galaxy — a black star called Angel Fantasm. Though the original Angel’s voluptuous gourmand facet has been said to be stretched and amplified in Angel Fantasm.

Yet, Mugler invites you to bring your fantasies to life with Angel Fantasm, the new Angel f lanker presented as an Eau de Parfum Sensuelle. This new amber and fruity fragrance is all captured in Angel’s iconic star shaped bottle — this time painted with a deep black lacquer.

Tropical In All Senses? We Have Doubts

With the new edition, the Angel myth is described as an amber and fruity gourmand featuring a creamy coconut accord and skin-light patchouli. Well, the Pineapple and coconut alongside Angel DNA is quite a questionable pairing and might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Sounds saccharine, overly sweet, cloying, and completely inappropriate for summer. As many folks might be under the impression that tossing tropical fruits and flowers into a composition renders a fragrance exclusively summery, but this can be reductive. That too in a black bottle?

When pineapple and coconut are combined with Angel DNA (by the way, both of these notes are in the original Angel), patchouli, bourbon, vanilla and amber? We can’t think of anything more nauseating in high heat and humidity.

On the contrary, we feel with Patchouli, bourbon, vanilla, amber, and dark chocolate…this tropical vacation to where exactly? The Arctic Circle? Being a darker bottle means darker notes as we knew Angel in the early nineties. Here’s a revolution, it’s sweet compared to the offer we were used to, but nothing childish or yummy.

No doubt, the heart of the fragrance boasts a modernised, creamy patchouli essence infused with Bourbon vanilla that pushes boundaries, if you desire a daring fragrance. But whether it’s a tropical escape or an Arctic adventure, it’s up to you to decide. If this composition holds up to your expectations, you may try it!
