I had a 350Z also called fair lady Z, a drifting car. I still remembered the time driving the car while embracing the loud wind which is quite a moment and time.

Hi Jade, besides modelling – do you have other passions?

I like cars and motorcycles. I feel those are links to the city. They give me the ability to travel everywhere.

The time you spend with motorcycles and cars, can you tell us more about this?

I had a time when I was in college, I was super obsessed with Japanese modified car and my friends and I formed a group of it. I had a 350Z also called fair lady Z, a drifting car. I still remembered the time driving the car while embracing the loud wind which is quite a moment and time.

I have a lot of goals for 2022. I want to continue making great works in modelling. I plan to combine modelling with my life closer, like eating healthier and meditating often.

What is the one project you had most fun working on?

There are a lot of projects I had fun working on. This shoot for L’Officiel was definitely one of my favourites because I love motorcycle racing and car drifting.

As a female, what do you feel about taking part in motorcycle racing and car drifting?

A lot of people might put stereotypes on these activities like those thinking these are for men. While genders should not be taken into consideration against people from doing what they want to do and what they want to be.

I used to play the role of princess Shouyang in a story, and I presented myself with plum makeup, a fashion trend in Tang dynasty, as an elegant and soft woman like her.

What is the one you’re most looking forward to relating to car racing?

I am looking forward to seeing more diversity and more gender equality in car racing.

You graduated from Johns Hopkins University with an honour in Information Systems. From that to modelling, what inspired the shift in your career?

During the study in Johns Hopkins University, I learned a lot about how to sort and collect the information; then present to the audiences or the public in a way that aligns with the core theme and vibes. It helps me find different references in an efficient way and organize myself in modelling.

I love wearing comfy clothes. I think it is now so-called androgyny.

Being a storyteller for Chinese traditional culture in the fashion story, what has been the biggest challenge you had to face?

The biggest challenge is to tell the whole story in a general way. I am sure there are a lot of opinions toward different nations, especially Chinese cultures. However, I am not going to talk about the images that people have already known of. That’s a little bit cliché. I used to play the role of princess Shouyang in a story, and I presented myself with plum makeup, a fashion trend in Tang dynasty, as an elegant and soft woman like her.

When you’re not walking the runway or modelling in the photoshoots, what do you like to wear on your day off?

I love wearing comfy clothes. I think it is now so-called androgyny. That’s so amazing that the designs can show both masculine and feminine in humans.

If you had to pick your top favourite designer or dream designer you would want to work with, who would you pick and what do you love most about him/her?

This is a very tricky question. I love high fashion but meanwhile I also love the new trend ‘athflow’ or casual sportswear. I would love to work with Anthony Vaccarello, nowadays the creative director at Saint Laurent. I like Ann Demeulemeester. I hope I have a chance one day working with Sébastien Meunier. It has a very avant-garde style featured in quite androgynous I adore. Also, I would love to work with Yohji Yamamoto. He also has a line called Y3, a collaboration label between Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto. Y3 brings sportswear to a new aesthetic. Those pieces are my gym-to-go!

During my leisure time, I love reading poetry and writing poems.

We heard that you are preparing to publish your poetry, where do you get the inspiration to write your poems from?

During my leisure time, I love reading poetry and writing poems. It helps me balance work and life. Writing poems has become my hobby derived from my mom. I guess my poetic heart is my heritage from her.

What are you planning for 2022?

I have a lot of goals for 2022. I want to continue making great works in modelling. I plan to combine modelling with my life closer, like eating healthier and meditating often. I want to continue writing and I hope my poetry works will be published sooner or later.
