The painting of Women Sitting Near a Window depicts Picassos mistress/muse and lover Marie Therese, it was 1927 when Pablo and Marie met for the first time in New York and fell in love. Marie, a French model was just 17 at that time while Picasso was married and was 45 years old. They started their love relationship even while Picasso continued staying with his wife. The painting in which he painted Maries portrayed depicted embodiment of femineity the touch of young skin and a surrealism of his art in that period of time. Picasso all his life has shifted from one woman to another in his muse of painting and creating his art, nobody knows what he thought though and is undeciphered today. The above painting depicts the sensuousness of Marie looking outside the window gazing in the boundless time while she was pregnant. His paintings of her showed that she was neither his wife nor a friend but just an object of desire. Marie soon was pregnant and had a girl, named Maya. It was sometime soon in 1935 when Picasso moved on to his next relationship with another woman Artist Dora Maar.

All the other paintings of Picasso in this period portrayed Marie as an erotica for him where he projected her as blonde muse, which can also be seen in Le Reve portrait. The Le Reve is another of his highest bided paintings in the art world today.
